How many ways are there to tune a piano?

There is more than one way to tune a piano. A novice tuner, in his first tunings, may come to your house with a tuning meter, strobe, or other electronic tuning device and tune each note to the device without taking any specific steps to match the tuning to your particular piano. While these devices (if it is a good one, made for piano tuning) are usually very accurate, additional measures really need to be taken to get the best sound from your piano

Another method of piano tuning is the aural (by ear) method. Most piano tuners who tune this way are more knowledgeable than those who tune by tuning meter alone. They will tune the first note on the piano to a tuning fork, then by using various aural tests and methods they will tune from there. The biggest disadvantage to this method is that if the tuner "misses" by a slight amount on one note, the notes he tunes after that may get successively worse and worse since the aural tests are not as accurate near the bottom and near the top of the scale.

When we tune your piano we bring the best tuning meters (more than one) available. Then as we tune using a meter, we also do all of the aural (by ear) tests that we used to use before good meters were available. This gives you the best tuning available from both worlds.

And of course, we guarantee our tunings to be accurate!
